The DUST COMMANDER S30 ships in a pre-assembled state. In order to save overall packing volume the steel bin's lid is not fixed to the bin itself during shipping.
For this reason the lid's O-ring is fully dilated when you receive your unit and may render first assembly of the lid to the bin rather difficult. Please ensure you follow these few steps for easy assembly of DUST COMMANDER S30's lid :
The rim clamp is asymmetrical and can only be used in one direction. You can check proper orientation of the rim clamp by looking at the production codes which are embossed onto the rim's clamp. These codes should be facing up for proper assembly.
Clamping the lid the first time is difficult because the O-ring is fully dilated. We recommend using force of the vacuum's cleaner depression to help. To do so connect your vacuum cleaner to the tangential port of the DUST COMMANDER FILTER. This connection must have a good air seal. Then power up the vacuum cleaner and block the upper port of the cyclone filter with a thick and flat piece of wood, metal or plastic. The lid will then be forced down by the vacuum's depression and the O-ring will be flattened. You can then easily clamp the lid to the steel bin.
Please note this only has to be done if the S30's lid and bin have been stored unclamped for a long period of time.
