The Egyptian Camel Transport Corps known as the Camel Corps were a group of Egyptian Camel drivers who supported the British Army in Egypt during the First World War. The Camel Corps had 2,000 camels and 1,100 Egyptian handlers who transported supplies to the troops fighting in the Sinai desert and in Palestine. Fresh supplies arrived by ship and then taken to the Army camps by camels. Camels were much better suited for travelling across the terrain of the Middle East than horses.
