THE ITEM DESCRIPTION: The lithographed tin wind-up toy of Majin Garon was produced by the Osaka Tin Toy Institute Japan in 1989. The toy is in unused condition & working in original box with cardboard inserts, paperwork & a key. According to the paperwork this is #368 from an edition of 500. Box has minimal wear on edges & corners. When wound Garon walks forward raising his arms & at the same time the window on his chest opens up to reveal Astro Boy. At least I think that is Astro Boy. The “ears” are black vinyl as are his hands. Garon is 7 1/4” tall. The Osaka Tin Toy Institute logo on the back of the toy & on the box cover has the company name in a circle with the image of the skating clown wind-up tin toy in the middle. Perhaps the owner of the Osaka Tin Toy Institute was the designer of the TPS Skating Clown. I would also point out that the box cover logo includes the words “Produced in 1989.” The 1989 date is not on the toy logo, only the original box logo. Osaka was founded & began producing tin toys around the same time as Billiken. The Osaka toys were much more expensive when new as they were limited in number to 500 while the Billiken toys had a production run of 2000 toys. As a result of this limited production run Osaka tin toys are much harder to find.
