This is an antique early 20th century Art Nouveau dark gold frame with lemon gold gilt highlights.

I would estimate it dates circa 1900s or 1910s.

The overall frame measures 9 3/4 inches x 11 3/4 inches (24.7 cm x 29.8 cm). The back opening size measure 7 1/8 inches x 9 1/8 inches (18.1 cm x 23.1 cm). The molding width measures 1 1/2 inches (3.8 cm).

The frame is made of wood and is covered in a beautiful applied decorative composition design. Most of the surface is painted a dark gold or even brown color, but the highest protruding area is covered in lemon gold gilt.

The frame has chipping in each of the corners along with some other scattered nicks and dings to the surface. There are age related stress marks throughout. Each of the inside corners has what I will call a dab of a lighter gold paint. I’m not quite sure what happened here. The top side is darker than the other sides as that was the top when it was hanging and dirt fell on it over the years. Not a big deal though.

It has its original bubbled and wavy glass.

It weighs a touch under 1 pound (450 g).

It has what I always look for in frames, that wonderful old world look!
