Awaiting your purchase is a wonderful American sterling silver teaspoon made by Joseph Seymour Mfg. Co. of Syracuse, New York, with a handle formed as a female graduate in graduation robes, holding a colored enamel (red and gold) pennant emblazoned with a letter N. The bowl bears a crowned coat of arms featuring a cross, a star and a sword over the words Sigma Phi Epsilon spelt out in Greek. The coat of arms is very similar to that of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity but this spoon is clearly celebrating female scholarship. This elegant spoon remains in very good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear (see condition description) and bears no monogram.Celebrate her accomplishment!
