Antique Walter James Carroll Victorian Sterling Silver Aesthetic Locket c.1885.

Please examine all photos as these form an integral part of the description and condition report.

Condition is used, with signs of wear commensurate with both age and use including; patina, minor dents to front and back. The inside no longer has the glass/acrylic photo protectors and metal ring to hold in place.

Ideal for restoration or simply enjoyed in its existing (and still) charming condition.

Fully hallmarked back with Birmingham assay, lion passant date letter (I think is) L (c.1885) and the maker initials (part worn) W.J.C. which I believe to be ‘Walter James Carroll’.

Also has hallmarks inside front.

Approximate measurements;

Height (Inc bail) 5.5cm

Height (excluding bail) 4.1cm

Width 3.4cm

Weight 8.4grams

Lovely item but requires a little attention, open and closes securely. Great design and at over 130 years old, so a genuine Victorian item of hallmarked sterling silver jewellery.

I’ve highlighted some of the small dents with a blue circle in the photos. Some might see these as adding charm, character etc to an old piece of jewellery and leave as it is, I prefer to describe the actual condition as best possible.
