This card was created by the late Bob Lemke, Editor of the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards. This is not one of the cards Bob made on his home printer. He ordered a few professionally printed versions of his most popular custom cards, including this one. There are some dealers selling home made copies of Lemke's work - this is not one of them. One printing of 100 cards were printed on a printing press in 2012 under Bob Lemke's authorization and for him to mail to his fans.

This card was not digitally produced. It uses the same size, type and thickness card stock used in 1960.

Here is what Bob said on his blog when he created this card:
"Filling the Williams gap in 1960: Because of his exclusive contract, Williams did not appear in the sets of 1959-61T.  While paging through the latest auction catalog from Legendary, I saw a lot offering vintage Ted Williams photos. Looking at them, I knew they had the makings for a 1960T card. There was a picture of a smiling Williams standing at the batting cage and a picture showing his classic swing. The back of my '60 Williams was a challenge. For many of its originals, they presented bullet-point "Season's Highlights" for the player. Frankly, in 1959 Williams didn't have many season highlights. It was his worst year ever, batting only .254."

I knew Bob for about 35 years, and regarded him as the greatest authority on baseball cards.  When I had a question, he was my "go to" guy starting in the early 80s when I owned a card shop. He is greatly missed by everyone in the hobby.

Guaranteed book value:
This card will always be worth more than you paid. The minimum "book value" is the price above. I will buy this card back from you for what you paid any time you ask. Next week, next year, or ten years from now.
I can do this only because I know that this card is worth more than I am selling it for.

About Grouchy:
21 years selling cards online. Before that, owner of Space City Cards Comics & Coins on Main St. in Houston. As a kid I loved baseball and football, and collected cards starting in 1959 - that's 60 years, but it feels like yesterday.  I have bought and sold millions of sports cards over the years. The kids who used to frequent my card shop named me the "Grouchy Old Man" because I had to keep them in line.  The nickname stuck. I'm not that grouchy anymore. I have over 100,000
online transactions, with an average feedback score of 100% over the years.
