BIOGRAPHY

CARL PERKINS d1998. American rockabilly music pioneer who began his recording career at Sun Records with Sam Philips in 1954. An outstanding performer and guitarist his trademark best known song "Blue Suede Shoes" topped the US Charts for 3 months in 1956 selling 20000 copies a day. The song was later recorded and performed three times on national TV by a young Elvis Presley but his version only reaching No20 in US charts. Perkins died on January 19th 1998 aged 65 of throat cancer.
