1865 Andrew Johnson Indian Peace Medal First Size 76mm

This medal is Julian IP-40, the large 76mm so-called 'First Size.' It has a beautiful reddish mahogany finish of the 19th century, thick and heavy. Given its size and weight, the piece exhibits some rim/edge ticks on the reverse. There is also a slight gouge on Johnson's cheek, though its color matches the surrounding area, making it much less noticeable in person. Unfortunately, this blown-up photo exaggerates its appearance, making it seem ten times worse than reality.

This medal is much more attractive in person than the photos suggest. It's a scarce historical piece, Johnson being the first president to be impeached!

Do not mistaken our piece with those modern restrikes and reproduction, which only serve as paperweight.
