This Japanese book probably dates to the mid-19th century, and there are about 50 page-leafs of annotated text. We've examined it closely, but can't decide if it's woodblock-printed or handwritten. It looks like the latter to us, but we're not sure. The title on the cover is basically "Japan 2000 Years Sleeve Book", the "Sleeve" referring to the idea that it could be carried around in the sleeve of a kimono or yukata. This kind of book is a Sode Kagami, which was a kind of text book widely used before modern printing, from the Heian Era to the Meiji Era. We'll guess that this is a very late example from the earlyish Meiji Era. It seems to be a history book.

There is general wear and dustiness, with some smudges, some creases, many spots and patches of insect damage, and some damage at the edges and corners, as shown.

General Note about Shipping:

Unless otherwise indicated, we ship all of our items via Standard Air Mail. Nonetheless, we are always happy to change shipping methods if faster (and thus more expensive) or cheaper (and thus slower) shipping is desired. The shipping options available are (from fastest and most expensive to slowest and least expensive): EMS, Air Mail, SAL (economy airmail), Surface.

Registered mail with tracking is also available for an additional US$5.60 above the standard Air Mail shipping cost stated in the description.

We are glad to combine multiple items for shipping, and of course will discount some of the postage charges for each item after the first one. Please note that the shipping discount is not large for heavy items, but for small, light things we will discount the shipping charges by 40-100 percent, depending on how heavy it is and how it needs to be packed.

We ship at least once and very often twice a week, and so most of the time items will be in the mail within no more than 10 business days after we have received payment. We also always send a brief note informing buyers when their items have shipped.
