The player has been tested and does play both MinDV tapes and VHS tapes. Testing used a brand new recorded MiniDV tape. The player appears to have been well-maintained and is ready for use. However, if tapes have not been well maintained, the player may have issues (as would any other player). The unit comes with remote, instruction manual and original box.
