From my mother-in-law

Wedding was May 1963

Selling her wedding dress and going away outfit as follows

Wedding gown:

Linen type fabric in a clean silhouette

Set in Sleeves to above elbow

Square neckline front and back

Zipper at back

Bow at back waist

Long straight skirt

Pleats at waist

Lace overlay panels on either side which are weighted to stop them flying around

Note that I have not handwashed this garment however the Embroiderers Guild recommends a soak in demineralised water which draws the minerals deposits (those yellow marks on vintage fabric) away from the fabric

Going away outfit

Silky satin dress with sleeves and button detail and self fabric belt. There are some tears in the skirt but these are covered by the lace overdress. Oyster / champagne toned fabric

Chocolate maroon coloured overdress in lace with silk frogging tie at waist

These fit a size 6 to small 8

Wedding Dress measurements are

Bust: 42cm flat from armhole to armhole

Waist measures 32cm flat

Shoulder to hem is 141cm long

Hem is 13cm so it can be let down, however to lace panels are fixed length

Sleeve length is 29cm long

Going away outfit fits to the same size
