Product Description:  A complete reconditioned/restored Corvette posi-traction differential carrier for a 1965 Corvette with the 396 engine option.  This is an original rear end unit that was completely disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled with new seals/gaskets and any parts replaced if needed (like bearings) by a mechanic that has done this work for over 50 years.  He owns a speed shop and building differentials has always been an important part of his business. Not sure what we will do if he finally retires.  Anyway, it has the GM ring and pinion and the original four series posi case, not a three series posi case with a spacer.  It is a survivor with the following original and correct numbers:  carrier housing casting number 3876476-N; housing casting date C 4 5 (March 4,1965); assembly stamping FB 3 24 65 (big block 4:11 March 24, 1965); and rear carrier cover casting number 3871375.  Note that the original plastic tag around the fill plug is damaged so we added a new reproduction tag but will include the original one.  The snap ring ends of the heavy duty stub shafts are in good condition - these often wear.  The OEM ring and pinion are also in great shape.  All bolts are correct and original and threaded holes are in good shape (no helicoils).  The exterior parts were cleaned to bear metal and coated with a light coat of quality grey cast paint to prevent corrosion.  None of the cast parts are cracked and there are no repairs or modifications.  It's dated correct for most 396 Corvettes built and I can't imagine this will not pass any and all NCRS judging. This unit is ready to add lube, install, and hang on.  It won't help your mileage but will sure increase the street snap and the value of your old big block Vette.

It is quite heavy.  We will chance that the shipping will not cost us more than the $125 listed.  If it does, we will cover the extra.  If it is less, then we will refund you the difference.  Obviously we would much prefer that you pick the litem up (we are located near Omaha, NE).  And we will ship as timely as reasonable, knowing that we are not a 8 to 5, walk in business and do travel.  We will insure this item for the full selling price and UPS will require a signature on your end.
