The 3rd Cazadores otherwise known as Wellingtons fighting cocks was a light infantry unit that undertook skirmishes duties. The Portuguese Army was an important part of the allied force and fought the French in Portugal and Spain. There were 12 of these Cazadores units formed and their brown uniform made them blend in well with the surrounding environments. In 1810, these units were armed with 800 baker rifles. Baker rifles were British made and became standard issue for all line soldiers. A Baker rifle could fire a musket ball over 200 yards and had deadly accuracy.
