Antique American Pewter Deep Dish Charger, Edward Danforth, Hartford and Middletown, CT., c. 1786 - 1800. This 18th century pewter deep dish charger is large and impressive. There are two impressed lion marks on the back of the plate that read, "EDWARD DANFORTH ". This mark appears in "Guide To American Pewter" by Carl Jacobs, page 61, mark #84. Jacobs valued a 13 1/4" Dia. deep dish at $150 back in 1957. This is the mark of Edward Danforth who worked out of both Middletown and Hartford, Connecticut from 1786-1800.
