Antique Vintage Art Deco D. F. Briggs C. The D. F. B. Co Carmen Gold Tone Cameo Bracelet

This is a totally cool find! 

Based on my research, the “Carmen” bracelet was patented/ marketed as early as the turn of the century. It is also noted that the company changed the name to Briggs, Bates & Bacon in 1922. *** This information is based on my research and I could be wrong. If this matters in your decision to purchase the bracelet, please do your own due diligence to confirm the information or feel free to correct me if I am wrong. I spent a while researching and came up with the same answers repeatedly.

This is a fun find and would be a great gift for a Cameo lover or collector. There is quite a bit of information on the internet about the company as they patented the Carmen bracelet in the late 1800s/early 1900s with the adjustable strap which has never gone out of fashion since.

This piece is not new. It has been worn and preloved. I am not an antique jewelry expert. Just a gal who loves it! I have no idea what the metal is as it isn’t marked nor do I know what the cameo is made out of.  There could be a metal mark hiding from me, but I couldn’t find it. The photos I took are the best description as I took them with natural day light as opposed to any professional lighting so that you could see all the details if you zoom in and view the condition yourself.  Aside from it being an older piece, uncleaned and the condition being consistent with age,I don’t see any noteworthy flaws.

The adjustable band is working great. I have a small wrist and the bracelet fits…but I can pull on it to extend it and actually fit both wrists in it! I did not clean or polish this piece as I did not want to ruin it and I know some folks love buying pieces as found, so I will leave that up to the buyer. 

I am amazed at the quality of older jewelry compared to what is in the market today and how it holds up.

Vintage or preowned jewelry typically shows wear constant with its age. That is why we love it so much. The images are a major part of the description so please zoom in and look closely so there will be no surprises and you know exactly what I am selling and you will be receiving.

** Most of the time, I try not to disturb any vintage/preowned jewelry by cleaning and/or polishing it in order to keep it in its original patina leaving it to your discretion. I do not want to take a chance ruining something. Depending on your own taste, you can either clean or polish it or keep it in its original state.

My jewelry comes from estates, individual consignors, individual or bulk purchases, etc. In most cases, I do not know the history of the jewelry nor where it has traveled or been stored. Most importantly, I have no idea if it has been around pets, smoke, air fresheners or any sort of allergen or if it smells. (I do not smell jewelry)
