Blackstone's Commentaries: with Notes of Reference to the Constitution and Laws of the Federal Government of the United States and of the Commonwealth of Virginia

by St. George Tucker

Volume One (of five) of this landmark of American jurisprudence. The author was a professor of law at William and Mary College. In this work he offers detailed analysis of the principles set forth by the great British jurist Sir William Blackstone, and applies them to American law.

The set was published in Philadelphia in 1803 and not reprinted for 193 years. First edition examples are rare in the extreme.

This copy is in fair condition only. The covers show considerable wear, with material loss at the corners and a piece missing at the spine top. The covers are holding on by threads. The first page has a vintage owner inscription and is partially separated from the binding. The rest of the text is well-bound; the pages show foxing, dust, staining, a few corner creases, etc.; no writing or tears.

Not ideal, perhaps, but still an extraordinarily rare collector's item at a very reasonable price.

Measures about 5.5" X 9"; pagination: xx; 1-122; 1-446. Ships promptly & securely.
