18th Century Antique English Pewter Plate, John Watts, London, England, c. 1749 to 1789. This plate has a nice plain or flat rim, with a deep dish and is a very rare early mark that is well struck so it can be read easily. There is an early crown and "X" mark on one side of the rim. There are three impressed mark on the back of the other side of the rim. The mark has like a globe with a mark with three banner marks below that read, "J. WATTS - ALDGATE - LONDON". This is a mark utilized by John Watts, from 1725 to 1792. This mark is listed in "OLD PEWTER IT'S MAKERS AND MARKS" by Cotterell. page 331, #4991. Very early and fine English pewter deep dish plate from the eighteenth century.
