Rare huge original ultra scarce 1889 ribbon calendar Victorian trade card 7 x 10 inches. The wonderful illustration shows a Victorian era woman, dressed in fancy clothing, standing in front of a nice steel picket fence. An old house is in the distant background. The card advertises Hartman Mfg. Co.'s Steel Picket Fence & Gates. (Factories Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania). Their Eastern Sales Agency was located in New York City. Their Western Sales Agency was located in Chicago. Their South-Western Sales Agency was located in Kansas City, Missouri. There is a small calendar in the upper left corner from 1889. The upper right corner has a small illustration of the Hartman Flexible Steel Wire Mat.

The unusual feature that this card has is three red ribbons. One ribbon has the 12 months of the year. The second ribbon has the seven days of the week. The third ribbon has the days of the month. By manipulating the ribbons the card owner can change the date on the card. I have left the date alone which currently shows Monday, April 20...from the year 1889 of course.

Quite an unusual and rare card. I've never seen another one of these cards offered for sale on e-bay, or in any auction catalog, or at any paper show,  in over 40 years of collecting.

This card measures about 10 inches wide and about 7 inches tall.

Quite nice condition except for one small half-inch edge tear bottom left margin not affecting the illustration and one corner crease. There is also some minor corner wear and old glue stains/paper toning on the blank reverse. No tape. No pin holes. No creases.

I will be listing many other Victorian Trade Cards from a 40 year old collection so please check out my other e-bay listings.
