Inscription on the right front flyleaf reads - "To Grandad from Wilbur G. Kurtz III Christmas 1945." Grandad is Wilbur Kurtz, Atlanta historian and illustrator. Research notes are hand written on the right front flyleaf, title page, on the rear blank end paper, and the rear flyleaf. An old Atlanta Journal news clipping from Nov. 12, 1962 is pasted down on the verso of the index page. The article concerns the amputated leg of Dan Sickles. Sickles lost his leg at Gettysburg. The leg was "prettied up" and put on display at the Army Medical Museum's centennial celebration in Washington. Good.
