This auction is for a classy antique Victorian French pure silk damask ribbon fragment in a lovely, unique shade of pale silvery lilac, in my opinion. The fine shimmering silk thread leaf motifs on a very finely ribbed silk base enhance its beauty. It is a very sturdy ribbon and is not flimsy…. There are no signs of deterioration or brittleness, nor are there any rips or tears.

Although I have taken photos in natural light with no flash, it may appear differently on one’s monitor.

Photo 3 shows underside. Last photo depicts slight outline of surface mark near end of ribbon in corner and another about 5.5” from same edge. This is inherent with age and storage and is to be expected of something over 100 years old. It still does not detract from its loveliness.

This measures approximately a tad less than 24” x 4 7/8”.

Larger leaf motif measures about 2 1/4” x 1 5/8” at longest and widest points.
