This 1962? North & South Carolina road map was issued by the Humble Oil & Refining Company (Esso). This map is in excellent original condition as shown in the photo and came from the General Drafting Map Company archives. The map has a 1961 copyright and a legend date of November 1961.  However, the map date code is “P861” but the archival envelope that it was stored in is dated 1962 with a publishing date of 11-6-61. The cover is totally different than the 1961 and 1963 issues, so it is the 1962 issue in spite of the dating on the map! If there is a stamp or writing on the top of the front cover, it was put there by the General Drafting Company since this map is from their archival files.

I was fortunate to locate and buy several boxes of archival maps from the General Drafting Map Company after they were bought out by Langenscheidt and absorbed into the American Map Company. There is a wide variety of maps types and all are like new. Over the next few years, I will be offering many of these here on eBay.
