This Sony Vaio NV290 Notebook Computer is rare and unique because the NV-series is the only laptop computer (and among one of the very few Sony Vaio computers overall) ever made with built-in MiniDisc support.

This computer is in good overall used condition, and does come with the very rare and hard-to-find MiniDisc (NetMD) drive!!! The MiniDisc drive can be used to read/write regular MiniDiscs with the included Sony SonicStage software, and was a ¥26800 (approx US$220 back in 2002) add-on!

This listing includes the Sony Vaio NV290 laptop computer, and the following Sony Vaio peripherals (all of which are designed for and utilize the laptop's interchangeable bay) only:

• MiniDisc (NetMD) drive PCGA-MDN1 (pre-inserted into the computer for shipping) - brief testing done, basic MiniDisc read operation confirmed, see photos.
• Floppy disk drive PCGA-FDN1 - in brief testing, doesn't seem to read floppy disks properly, will need work such as cleaning and/or repairs. No further investigation done.
  
• Compact Subwoofer speaker PCGA-CWN1 - seems to work, sound coming from the peripheral

Key notes:

• Windows XP SP2 preloaded. No testing of the operating system or software done besides basic use of Sony SonicStage as described above.
• CMOS battery (system date/time) will probably need to be replaced.
• No power adapter or battery included. (A separate Sony power adapter was used for brief testing of the laptop and is not included.)
• No other accessories, manuals, recovery software, discs, packaging or other items are included.
• Laptop has dings and signs of use and age, including: palm rest right side, top right corner of lid, small black spot on LCD screen, keyboard and trackpad button wear, oxidized plastic feet on bottom (see photos)
• Due to its age, everything is sold as-is with no guarantees or warranties. All sales are final, no returns.
