This antique Stanley-Bailey no. 1 wood plane is a rare find for collectors and woodworking enthusiasts alike. Crafted by the renowned Stanley brand, this plane features L Bailey's patented design from December 24, 1867, making it a unique piece of history.

I had a local expert on everything Stanley look at this for me and his conclusion was that this model is a late 1800’s version. it has a brazed shoulder where the side broke off and was put back on and small chip brazed in on the throat. The frog is in good condition, There is some pitting on some of the cast iron, iron and chip breaker but it’s still decent display piece overall. The tote is original and has been repaired well with a black epoxy on the crack in the middle as they commonly are and the knob is not original but homemade along with the threaded rod and brass.
