"Ideal"

Model A
Chain Stitch Sewing Machine

This stylish Art Deco "Ideal" chain stitch sewing machine was made by the "Ideal sewing Machine Co. Ltd" around 1921, from an original 1910 design by Leslie Salter. The company was short lived and went in to liquidation in 1925.
It is in "as found" condition.
There were two models of the machine, "A" and "B", this, I believe is a "Model A" with an open face.
The machine is completely nickel plated and has retained a fair finish, however, there are small rust blemishes and marks in places, as well as scuffs and scratches.
The solid wooden base is free from any cracks or splits, but, this also has the usual scuffs and marks you would expect from a well used item.
The side spool spindle is present.
The folding handle is well attached and the there are no splits or cracks to the wood.
The machine does turn and the foot moves up and down.
It comes with its' tin cover, the decal to the side has a little rubbing and a scratch, the tin has much of its' black painted finish, however, there are , marks, scuffs and scratches.
The handle to the top is well attached.
The wooden base of the machine measures 25 cm (9 3/4 inches) long by 13 cm (5 inches) wide. It is 17 cm (6 3/4 inches) high.
