The ends and handle of the calculator are wood, there are no cracks or chips, however, there are use and wear marks that you would expect from a used item of this age.
The handle maybe a replacement as there is no hole to place it on the stand.
The brass scale is clear and legible and also has "7048 38" impressed just above the screws.
The outer cylinder tube moves up and down and around the inner cylinder smoothly and all of the lettering, numbers and scales to the tubes are clear and legible, but there is 'yellowing' to the paper and there are small areas of staining and losses to the paper in places.
I have tried to show the condition in the photographs.
The calculator has its' finger jointed wooden case, this has its' baize lined supports and makers label to the inside of the lid.
The case is missing one brass catch to the front.
The wood has some scuffs, scratches and marks, but it has a good colour and patina.
The brass support is present and it fits in to its' holder well.
The calculator measures 34 cm (13 1/4 inches) long not including the handle.
