This is a beautiful French Art-Case Piano.  Baby Grand size, that has gorgeous artwork and painting on all sides.  It is vintage from the early 1900's.  Manufactured by Gabriel Gaveau.   88 keys full keyboard.   It was originially designed as a parlor piano and had an automatic system installed to play mechanically by itself.  It was converted at some point to a traditional piano and restored in the 1970's.  It is vintage and full playable.  A beautiful piece to display and nice to play.

A rare and beautiful harpsichord-style, art-case pianopainted inside and out with floral designs and supported by a base with sixturned legs and heavy shaped stretchers. The piano has an iron frame and a full 88 keyboard with perfect ivorykeytops.  All the original paintings areperfectly intact, and the piano mechanism is restored.

Gaveau was a French firm of piano and harpsichord makers.Joseph Gaveau (b. Paris, 1824; d. Paris 1903) founded the firm in 1847, workingwith his employees in a small shop in the rue des Vinaigriers in Paris; theworkshop and the offices were later transferred to the rue Servan. The firmestablished an excellent reputation for its smaller pianos. Gaveau was acompetitor of Erard and Pleyel, and built exceptional instruments, with highlydecorative cases.  This rare piano is anoutstanding example of how Gaveau blended elements of early eighteenth centuryharpsichord style in their piano making.
