1817 St. Louis Exchange & Land Office fifty cent fractional currency scrip: "The barer shall receive fifty cents for this bill on demand at the Offices."  St. Louis, Dec. 2, 1817.

This is ungraded and uncertified, but has been in a folder with other obsolete currency since before WWII.

I have found very few references to the "Exchange and Land Office" - it apparently existed for only a few years ~1817-~1819.

This has been in my family since at least the 1930s, probably since the 1890s, and possibly since issuance. Beyond that I cannot guarantee provenance, but it appears genuine, authentic and Very Old. ;-)
