Foreign Silver Coins: Large Bullion Lot at Spot. Some Very Nice Coins

This is a large lot of Foreign Silver Coins from many countries around the world.  These are Bullion Coins, on sale for their silver content and value.  However, as you will see from the pictures, some of them are very nice and may well end up in collections.

Here are the stats: there are 148 coins in all.  They are sorted into silver fineness.  There are 18 levels of fineness from 0.100 ASW to .925 ASW.  Here is a list of all the finenesses found in this lot:  .100, .2200, .350, .400, .500, .550, .600, .625, .640, .680, .720, .750, .800, .835, ..8924, .900, .917, .925.  And by no means did I get them all--there are other degrees of fineness that are not represented in this lot!  I did not count the number of countries represented here, but I imagine that it is in the forties to fifties.  Some of these finenesses are very common, and are used by major coutries in the world.

As you probaby know, each country in the world issued coins in its own special fineness of silver.  For example, Great Britain issued coins in Sterling Silver (.925 fine) for many years, then reduced the fineness to .500.  Canada issued coins in .800 fineness.  Switzerland issued .835 fineness coins, and so on.  Some countries, presumably less wealthy, used lower fineness such as .400.  United States Silver coinage was almost entirely .900 fine.

The Actual Silver Weight (ASW) is the measure of how much silver is in the coin.  it is a function of both the fineness and the weight of the coin.  This information is always in Coin Catalogs.  Small coins of low silver fineness may contain one fiftieth of a troy ounce of silver.  Large coins of high fineness may contain an ounce or more of silver.

For the great majority of these coins, I looked up the fineness and the ASW in coin catalogs.  These are marked on most of the 2X2s holding the coins.  A few coins are not in 2X2's but loose in their packets.  I weighed these coins and calculated the ASW from the weight in troy ounces.

A few coins are so worn that one cannot read them, but it is still possible to determine their silver content.  A couple of coins are defaced, but their silver content is the same as any other similar coin.  You would not want to put them in  your album however.

One coin is American.  It is an old Capped Bust 10 c piece, worn almost completely smooth.  I just threw it in for fun.  Its fineness is .8924.

The first picture is a selection of some of the nicer coins in the lot.  These coins have some numismatic value above their silver value.  The other pics show most (but not all) of the other coins.

Silver, as you probably know, has been on a binge for the last couple of months.  It usually goes up and down, but recently it has gone up, and then up some more.  Today Spot value of silver (the price of one troy ounce of pure silver on the world market) is $30.41, a stunning advance compared to a few weeks ago.

The total silver Actual Silver Weight of this lot is 19.03 troy ounces.  We are offering this lot for Spot value.  The listing will be for five days only to accomodate rapid changes in the price of silver.

We will ship to you in a medium Priority Box.  Enjoy.

Grading:

Note – eBay may or may not add a sales tax depending on each state’s requirements. We do not collect it.  Also, we list our items for mostly sales in the U.S. The postage noted is for U.S. sales only. If you are not in the U.S., please be advised that eBay will add a separate shipping charge for their overseas shipping from Erlanger, KY. Again, we have no control over that amount. Thank You.

All grading is our best opinion based on the official ANA Grading Standards for coins, Friedberg or Cuhaj for currency and Scotts for stamps. Please examine the photos closely to form your own opinion as to grade and bid based on that.  We acknowledge that grading is semi-subjective and that a differ

ence of opinions can occur even among experts. If you decide to certify an item and it does not meet your grade expectation, that is a cost born by the buyer and is not a reason to return the item. This statement is not applicable if the item is already certified by a professional certification service like NGC, PMG or PCGS.

Terms of Sale

Our return policy is simple. You are guaranteed to be satisfied. If you, as the buyer, are unhappy with your purchase, you will have 14 days in which to return it, no questions asked. The only exception to this deals with silver bullion. The price fluctuations in precious metals can sometimes be extreme, both up and down. When we sell bullion, we always sell under spot and let you know when the spot price was applied. If the price goes up, it is in your favor. If the price goes down, it is not a reason to return the bullion coins. Prices fluctuate – that is the precious metals market.

We are hopeful that the pictures and descriptions are such that there should be no reason to return an item. If you do wish to return the item for any reason, our return policy applies. If you do return an item, we will refund your payment minus shipping and handling costs upon receipt of the item or replace the item with an agreed upon substitute, again, after receipt of the item.

Should we feel that anyone is abusing the return policy such as sending back items repeatedly, it will be to our discretion as to whether to continue selling items to that individual.

Service:

E&L Coins strives to give 5 STAR service by providing quality coins, currency or stamps at a reasonable price. We state up front what our policies are, shipping rates and shipping frequency. When you give 4 STARS, it may seem like a great score for instance a 4 in Shipping Time means "Quickly", eBay, however, considers this to be a sub-par mark. Their standards require all sellers to maintain a 4.8 rating and above or be penalized with higher fees and more.

If you are pleased with a transaction, please respond with all 5 STARS – THANK YOU. We will ALWAYS provide a positive rating to you as the buyer once a payment has been made. We hope you will consider providing positive feedback to us upon receipt of your item. If you are not pleased, let us know via email and we will work to make it a 5 STAR experience.
