This is for a beautiful antique large sized bronze desktop inkwell from the mid 1800s fashioned as a grand Piano. It is a stunning piece, a long time ago i had a smaller version of this, but this one is exceptional. The whole piece is highly detailed right down to the working of the pedals underneath, the whole of the outside is beautifully hand engraved with a flower leaf and berry pattern and it has little semi precious stones studded into the pattern as well. The inkwell opens by way of the button to the front and inside you find the original little porcelain liner and a long tray for pens. The front of the inkwell also folds down to provide a pen rest when a pen is in use. The inkwell is in really good condition, there are no dents or dings, no splits or cracks etc, it opens and closes as it should and it has a lovely rich warm aged patina to it. The only wear i can see is to the actual cloth materials, the felt inside the front and a bit of light wear to the silk under the lid and the silk covering the base, its nothing at all really considering the age of the piece. As far as i can see all the turquoise stones are intact as well, there are just a few of the miniscule little red ones missing. The inkwell measures 247mm by 131mm on the base and it stands roughly 103mm tall.
