Album Notes:

Rare duet recordings on CD for the first time by Grammy award winning songwriter Bobby Russell and premier Nashville arranger Bergen White, up there with the best Pop recordings of the 1960’s.

Bobby Russell was one of the most successful songwriters of his generation, writing multi million sellers “Little Green Apples”, “Honey”, “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia” hits for ElvisPresley/Frank Sinatra/Bobby Goldsboro/Jan & Dean and Tom Jones. He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 1993.

Bergen White was Nashville’s premier arranger writing classic arrangements for Elvis Presley, Tony Joe White, Dolly Parton, Charlie Rich, Garth Brooks and many others. He was vocalist on Hot Rod group Ronny and The Daytonas, smash hit GTO and in 1969 signed with Shelby Singleton’s SSS International label and recorded the album which is now considered a classic in the Soft Pop genre “For Women Only” (featuring many of the musicians that appear on this CD) it can be found on the Revola Label.

Bobby and Bergen worked at the Spar record company in the 1960s recording under their own names and under pseudonyms like Dee & Robert, Sandy & The Beachcombers, The Now Generation, The Electric Screwdriver, The Classmates, The Chords and many others. They recorded several great duet records together and a dozen of these were released on the very rare, 1970 LP (Spar 3006) under the “nom de disc” Marc Stone, all but one of these tracks are included along with a handful of single

releases by the duo.
