Professional images from digital scans of negatives

Buildings, streets,
horse-drawn vehicles
and people in
Saginaw, Michigan
about 1905-1910

These scenes were all professionally photographed on 8-inch by 10-inch glass negatives. We will make your prints from high-resolution scans of those sharp negatives. Some of the buildings in the photos were quite beautiful. You will see many interesting details, especially in the larger-size prints. (See "Larger-size prints are available" below.) We have added a detail view below photo number 1 here. (See "What is the detail view" below). We believe that some of these buildings are still standing today. We would love to hear more about them. Please click "Ask a question" to share information. Please see our other photos of Michigan as well. Check out all our items!

You will receive eight 5-inch by 7-inch (5x7) prints that will ship the next business day after you pay, unless you request to substitute digital images on a CD (see "CD option" below). Your request must be made in eBay on the same day that you pay for this item. Your prints may be cropped a little differently than shown here, to fit 5x7 proportions.

These improved prints were made for you new, in a photo lab. We have taken great care to preserve the sharpness and antique look while removing scratches, spots, and other damage that would make them less viewable. We have repaired imperfections and improved tonal values.

Why buy these photos:  These prints would be good conversation starters in a restaurant, waiting room, lobby, office, classroom, library, or museum in this area. Decorators use our sepia-tone prints in a variety of ways to make them look old. They could also be a gift for a history buff or someone who has roots here. They can be resold in a store (see "Wholesale lots" below). They can be used in school reports, presentations, and displays. These are significantly improved versions of the images and must be licensed for use in a publication, production, or other product (see "Licenses" below).

What is the detail view?  This is an enlargement of a small portion of the photo. It is intended to show you some of the detail in the photo and to give you an idea of the image quality. It is not an additional print and it will not appear separately on your print. The larger the prints you order, the more details you will see.

Larger-size prints are available (listed separately):  Do not buy this item if you need larger-size prints. You will need to purchase a different eBay item instead. Click "Ask a question" to request information such as price or how to order. Refer to the numbers beside the photos to specify your choices.

8x10 (a standard photo frame size)

11x14 (a standard photo frame size)

16x20 (a standard photo frame size)

20x24 (display devices are available in some stores)

Tone:  Your print has a sepia tone as shown. Sepia is the color of old prints today, caused by acid in the old paper. Many people prefer the warm sepia tones over cold black and white. Your sepia print will be on acid-free paper, but it will look old. Black and white is available, listed separately. Click "Ask a question" to ask how to purchase black and white.

Finish:  Your print has a luster finish that reduces glare. Glossy is available, listed separately. Click "Ask a question" to ask how to purchase glossy finish.

Borders:  Your prints will have minimum borders. This means that there may be some white edges (less than 1/4 inch wide) outside the images so that you can display the maximum amount of the images in mats or other devices that hide the edges of the prints.

Quality:  We select the highest-quality images we can find and carefully restore and improve them. Old photos do not meet today’s high standards due to the limitations of the materials and methods available in those days, and due to aging and damage. But we improve them as much as we can while preserving an old look. Then we process them using modern archival methods so they can be affordable and last for many years.

CD option:  You can request to substitute a CD instead of prints. The CD will contain more than one version of some images, including at least one cropped close-up, that are optimized for digital presentations, e-mail, social media, and websites. The images will not exceed 1200 pixels in the longest dimension, and thus may not fill the screen when used for high definition displays. If we have additional information about the image, we will include a text file as well. You must request the CD in eBay on the same day that you pay. The CD and images shall not be printed nor reproduced for sale nor distribution.

Packaging:  We ship 5x7 prints and CDs flat with a stiff board to prevent folding, in a sturdy envelope.

Shipping time:  Your 5x7 prints or CD will ship the next business day after we receive your payment. If you purchase additional eBay items from quaintcards to ship together, an extra day or two may also be required. The time required by the postal services to deliver your package depends on shipping method, Customs requirements, weather, holidays, and other factors beyond our control.

Shipping cost:  This item is sold with packaging included. Domestic postage is also included. For destinations outside the U.S.A., buyer pays actual postage.

Copyright:  These images are significantly cleaned up, restored, and improved. They are copyright protected and shall not be reproduced without expressed permission.

Wholesale lots:  If you need a large quantity of these prints for use in classrooms, or for other purposes, please click "Ask a question" to request a wholesale lot. We will create a custom listing in eBay for you.

Price reductions!  We occasionally mark down many of our popular items for a few days. We are happy to answer your questions. Thanks for looking.
