IP (or "Ingress Protection") ratings are defined in international standard EN 60529 (British BS EN 60529:1992, European IEC 60509:1989). They are used to define levels of sealing effectiveness of electrical enclosures against intrusion from foreign bodies (tools, dirt etc) and moisture.

IP 67 Enclosures - IP rated as "dust tight" and protected against immersion.

They have a thick toughened wall design with integral seals and two knock out threaded holes at each end to accept cable glands, approx 20mm diam.

 The seal between base and lid is achieved by means of an all round tongue and grove type system, the grove in the lid is fitted with a rubber sealing ring when the lid is screwed down the tongue on the base compresses in to the rubber to seal the box. 

The screw down lid is retained by 4 recessed crosspoint screws.

External Dimensions Size 139mm long x 80mm wide x 53mm deep.

The side walls are 4mm thick and the end walls are a maximum of 7mm thick in the centre and the 4 columns take up some of the internal space.

There are 4 little lugs centralised along the sides internally in the base. (See photos)
