Geometric circa 750 B.C.

A magnificent replica of an ancient Greek storeage vessel used by the ancient Greeks to store their jewels, and other precious possessions. The geometric design is the first intimation of the ancient Greek artists' interest in the almost mathematical disposition of complex patterns and images.

This prime example of geometric splendor has been made by Sofia Gani of SJS Designs. She is an artist who is based in Greece and her studio / gallery is situated at the foot of the Acropolis in Plaka, Athens. Here you will find her on a daily basis recreating pottery once used in the everyday life of her ancestors.
