We insist on quality and durability...
All doors / gates are made using ex 9”x 2” (230mm x 51mm) rough sawn 'unsorted' Scandinavian redwood which is the best available. We cut it to 105mm width then plane square edge it to between 46mm and 48mm thickness, dependent the on supply from the timber imported and finishes a full 95mm width.
In general, industry match boarding is sometimes quoted as “125mm x 19mm” which can be misleading as this is the size the boarding starts as in rough sawn form. In reality, the finished planed size of this match boarding in 118mm x 15.5mm.
We do things a little different. The match boarding we use is manufactured for us (or sometimes by us) from 5”x1” (125mm x 25.4mm) rough sawn 'unsorted' Scandinavian redwood which is the best available and the finish of the boarding is a full 118mm x 18mm thickness. In short, our match boarding is much stronger and stable. We feel the need to explain this as we have to cover the extra cost for the quality we provide.
