The direct ignition coil is a part of your ignition system that delivers electrical amplified electrical power to the spark plug. Its function is to amplify the 12 volt power of your vehicle's electrical system in to at least 65,000 volts. This produces a high intensity spark at the spark plug which then ignites the compressed mixture of the air fuel in the cylinder. With the lack of maintenance, the direct ignition coils will wear out. Maintaining your vehicle, replacing the Spark plugs and keeping the air filters and the fuel filters clean will allow the direct ignition coils to last a very long time.

So - the reason that you may have to replace the Ignition coil set on your vehicle may be one of the following:

Lack of Maintenance of the engine, worn out old plugs, old filters air and fuel

Wrong type of replacement Spark plugs

All of the above conditions will lead to the ignition components to run out of balance. Electrical Current does not bargain- it takes the way of the less resistance- Ohms Law.

To diagnose the problem-

Do not disconnect ANY electronic components of your vehicle while engine is running. Electronic ignition produces High voltage is DEADLY DANGEROUS to your health.

You can diagnose the misfire with the simple OBD2 scan tool- that will tell you EXACTLY, which cylinder has been affected.   There is no other way that we would recommend to diagnose the issue.

·         All direct ignition coils tested to their peak load and temperature performance.

Please note that you should maintain the engine of your vehicle. Should the ignition coil become damaged while acting as a balance of the resistor for the wrong or worn out spark plug of your car- we would be able to tell by measuring the resistance of the damaged coil.
