Friction Stays/Hinges for uPVC & Aluminium Windows

The Vita handed friction stay and Egress range has been designed to ensure enhanced weather performance, smooth operation and durability for the life of the window. The Vita ‘Sureclose’ nylon friction end cap guarantees a positive engagement of the sash and the frame part.

What type of hinges do you need? 

1.)   Firstly have a look to see if they are side hung or top hung (Egress Hinges are only available in side hung versions)

2.)   Now comes the measuring part, there are 3 parts that need measuring -   

         1.) Firstly measure the actual length of the hinge which is attached to the frame, sizes are 8, 10, 12, 16, 20 or 24 inches long (Egress only available in 12 or 16 inch)

-       2.) Secondly measure the width of the hinge, for most this should be 18mm but if you have older windows this may be 14mm in which case this hinge will not work.

-       3.) And thirdly measure the Stack height this is the measurement of the hinge when closed. They only come in 13mm and 17mm stacks so you should be able to calculate which one is required.
