If you have accidentally left your machine unplugged, have totally run out of ink and have an air lock or an incomplete test pattern that will not resolve through nozzle cleans, please call us and we will help you quickly resolve your problem.

If your cartridge does not print correctly after 3 attempts using the menu functions, do not attempt any more, call us immediltely. If you continue to attempt to charge the machine in this manner you will aerate the cartridge. Airlocks are secondary print problems and the primary problem must first be identified.

CCSL Cartridge telephone support includes help and advice from a Franking Machine Engineer. This service is available from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. If you experience problems outside these hours please leave a message as the voice mail is monitored in the evenings and at weekends.

99% of DM50/55/60 K700/721/722 printing problems occur from 3 errors machine users make.

1. Switching off at night or over the weekend

DO NOT SWITCH YOUR FRANKING MACHINE OFF

Every few hours the machine needs to wake up from sleep mode. You may hear it bleeping 4 times when not in use. The machine wakes up and wets the print head with a tiny amount of ink to prevent it from drying. We cannot emphasise this enough. DO NOT unplug/switch off your machine from a power supply.

2. Gambling with the low ink light

DO NOT IGNORE THE LOW INK LIGHT

If you ignore the LOW INK light and you run the cartridge dry i.e. run out of ink, you will draw air into the print head and the machine will be unable to self-clean as it requires a supply of ink to do this. If it is left in this state for a short period of time, any remaining ink in the print head will slowly dry and it may causes printing problems when a replacement cartridge is installed. If your replacement cartridge does not print after 3 attempts, please contact us. Repeated installation attempts will aerate the cartridge if the primary problem is not resolved.

3. Not having a spare cartridge

DO NOT REMOVE YOUR OLD CARTRIDGE WITHOUT HAVING A REPLACEMENT AVAILABLE

The cartridge replacement process from start to finish takes about 2 to 3 minutes. Locate the replacement cartridge before you remove the old one. If you remove the old cartridge and delay inserting a new one, air may be drawn into the print head. Distractions can also include making a drink or being distracted by a phone call whilst installing a new cartridge.

REMEMBER

1. Always leave your machine connected to a power supply. (Your machine will automatically perform ink nozzle cleans to prevent the print head from clogging up)

2. Perform a test print before a print run or before a high value print.

3. NEVER allow your machine to run out of ink, if you do and have trouble re-charging your machine with ink please call us to assist you with this. (Running out of ink will draw air into your machine, always replace your cartridge when the ink light comes on). Always keep a cartridge installed with ink available.

4. Always keep a spare cartridge. (It makes sense to keep a low cost spare just in case, running low/out is inconvenient and a few days using stamps will cost more than a spare cartridge)

5. Use your machine and ink in a temperature controlled environment (+15c).

6. Store ink away from heat/cold sources and out of direct sunlight.

7. Royal Mail require that franking impressions be printed on white envelopes/background or labels.

NOTE

We do not provide support by email as we will not be able to determine the nature of the problem in a timely manner. It is essential the shortest amount of time is taken from a problem occurring to contacting us for help. It will assist us if it is the regular machine user who calls and that they are familiar with the machine and its history. Most calls to diagnose and fix problems take less than 5 minutes. We will also confirm your cartridge purchase details with us as part of the telephone call.

F.A.Q's

Q. Why should I buy your cartridge?

A. We have developed and improved our K and DM series cartridge over the last 3 years, with the introduction of the mailmark machine in 2015 further development and testing has been done to provide the UKs most reliable compatible cartridge for this machine. Our cartridges produce over 30 Million franking impression annually for our customers.

Q. What systems does your ink work with?

A. Our ink is compatible with Royal Mail's IMP / ILSM sorting machinery which use optical recognition to scan your franking image. These include standard Crown & Die, Mailmark, Clean Mail, Business Mail franking impressions. Please be aware that some other compatibles have problems printing mailmark or other franking impressions that are unreadable, especially the DM60/K722 series.

Q. How do you calculate impressions per cartridge?

A. Pitney Bowes Franking Machines calculate ink consumption on a fixed impression basis. You may get a low ink warning light even though your cartridge is not empty. Our cartridges contain at least 25ml of useable ink. This will give an average of 1100 non ad impressions. If you are a high volume user you may get around 1200 1400 impressions. Very low volume users will get less than 1000 as the machine requires ink for cleaning the print head, this includes nozzle clean etc. Other factors to take into account when calculating impressions per cartridge are advert coverage, automatic cleaning cycles and how often the machine is used, newer machines are also more ink efficient.

Q. What's the difference between a 70.00 OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Cartridge and your compatible cartridge?

A. Apart from the price, very little, OEM Cartridges use the Manufacturers Branding, our Compatible Cartridges are made to a similar specification using Japanese ink. We use foamed silicon to suspend the ink internally and high quality pressure seals by 3M.

Q. Can I use these cartridges in my Pitney Bowes Machine?

A. Users are now free to source cheaper compatible supplies for their franking machines. In 2005 the Office of Fair Trading forced Pitney Bowes to remove restrictions in relation to Ink Cartridges for consumers in the UK. These undertaking can be seen by CLICKING HERE

Q. What Guarantee's do you offer?

A. We Guarantee that our compatible cartridges will work in your Pitney Bowes DM50, DM55, DM60, K700, K721, K722 Franking Machine, We offer full telephone technical support and a full money back guarantee if you are not happy.

Q. Will you cartridge fit my machine?

A. If your machine is a DM50 DM55 DM60 K700 K721 K722 or use an original 797-0SB ink cartridge then these cartridges will fit your machine. Simply insert as per the instruction label and press install cartridge in the menu on your machine.

Q. Can I refill these cartridges or use refilled cartridges?

A. Pitney Bowes do not recommend that refilled cartridges are used because quality can't be guaranteed. Be aware there are remanufactured cartridges may damage your machine. Our cartridges are now assembled and filled in the UK by us. We used ink sourced from Japan to ensure your franking impression will be as near to the original as possible.

Q. Can I still use Red Ink?

A. Royal Mail state that you should change from red to blue ink when your red cartridge runs out. Due to the changes in mail sorting red franking impression will not fully comply with the changes implemented in April 2013. You may find some sellers are trying to offload out of date red ink cheaply, although it is best avoided.

Q. What if I have a problem?

A. We have a franking engineer who has worked on the K700 and DM series machines since 2007, help is only a phone call away. This support is free to our compatible cartridge customers. The most common problems with these machines are airlocks. These can occur with original or compatible cartridges and are not the fault of the cartridge. Airlocks can be user or machine induced, they can travel from the bottom of the print head to the top and vice versa. Most can be resolved through normal purging. We find is most are caused by user error with the machine unable to clear using the standard ink purges. We are aware that OEM original cartridge users suffer these problems only for Pitney Bowes to request they purchase another cartridge.
