Description

These are made by SDL, which is now part of JDSU and are model number 6531-J1-978-3-J3-.26, part number 65-00017. These operate at 978nm and produce 260mW which is quite bright for a single mode diode. These high power single-mode lasers can be focused to a very small spot (<10μm with appropriate optics) suitable for burning, etching, micro soldering, etc. They can also be coupled with good efficiency into single mode fibers. 978nm laser diodes are used as pumps for Yb (ytterbium) Er (erbium) doped fiber lasers and amplifiers (EDFAs). They can also be used to produce a visible blue laser by direct frequency doubling using LiNbO3 (lithium niobate). These are brand new in the manufacturer's packaging as shown.   • This laser diode is very sensitive to static electricity and even a tiny zap that you can't feel can instantly destroy this device or degrade it's performance. You should always use a static strap when handling static sensitive devices such as this.
  • This laser diode must be attached to a heat sink if before it is powered. Failure to keep the diode cool will dramatically reduce it's operating lifetime and may permanently damage it.
  • The output of this laser diode is nearly invisible. Don't let this fool you - it is powerful enough to set things on fire and can cause burns and permanent eye damage. You should always wear appropriate safety goggles when working with high power laser devices such as this.

Shipping charges are not refundable and most items will incur a fee to cover testing and restocking the item. Items found to be damaged, altered or in any other way not resalable cannot be refunded.
