 ROBERT LYON (EXHB FROM 1935)

SCOTTISH SCHOOL

WORLD WAR 2 MILITARY PORTRAITS

This section continues the series by Robert Lyon and includes military portraits.

Robert Lyon was a prominent member of the Scottish School of Artists who were active from the 1920s.

He trained at the Glasgow School of Art and Julians's Paris and taught at the Academy in Dunfries 1938-40.   During the war he served in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps (RAOC).   After the war he exhibited widely and concentrated on portraiture.

This final section contains more portraits of fellow officers and soldiers made mostly during his service with the Central Ordnance Depot, Old Dalby, Leicestershire in 1941.

All are in fine condition and are mounted either on acid free white paper and then on acid free board, or within acid free board.

This pleasing portrait of a lady, probably the wife of one of his soldier colleagues, is on buff paper.
