Although the headline was the same as 2014, the 83rd edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans was as far from a dry re-run as is possible to get. With Porsche just missing out on the top step on their return in 2014, they weren't going to settle for anything other than victory in 2015. Audi were just as determined to maintain their virtual monopoly on the Circuit de la Sarthe which started in 2000 and has led to 13 wins to date.

Toyota's effort to win Le Mans entered its thirtieth year. Having come achingly close on several occasions, would 2015 be the year the world's biggest manufacturer finally got the monkey off its back?

If patriotism was a deciding factor, perhaps Nissan would have stood aside from their renewed efforts to get on the podium at Le Mans and given Toyota a clear run. But in the modern world of motorsport, winning is the only thing that counts and Nissan's radically new LMP-1 machine had plenty of heads turning at the first test session - perhaps not all for the right reasons! 

With packed grids in LMP-2 and the GT classes, 2015 was never going to be a dull affair, and great conditions gave stars like Nico Hulkenburg, Mark Webber and Andre Lotterer the chance to really shine.
