You are bidding on the 52nd cover of a set of 100 first day covers containing stamps issued in the Marshall Islands commemorating the 50th anniversaries of the 100 most significant events starting with the invasion of Poland and ending up with the end of World War II on VJ day, September 2, 1945.
This 52nd cover depicts the Battle of the Cape Esperance. The cover is cancelled on October 11, 1992, 50 years after the battle. The cover bears one 50 cent “Battle of Cape Esperance 1942” stamp with inscription by Chester Nimitz.
The cover is signed by Sailass Andrike, Director of Post for the Republic of the Marshall Islands. The creator of the cover is also a member of the American Philatelic Society. This is a beautiful and unique cover to own and one of a limited edition.This is a unique cover to own.
