They are great for pot culture, drip systems, homemade hydroponic irrigation systems and can also be used outside to water hanging baskets, pots and raised beds. What pipe can I use? They are suitable for flexible pipes that will stretch over the barb for a secure fit. Internal diameter 13mm or 1/2" and 4mm internal diameter flexible pipe. Can I use the fittings outdoors? Yes they are UV stabilised and designed for use outdoors. How reliable are they? The fitting itself is very tough and designed to last. Strength of the connection will depend on the nature of the pipe, temperature and water pressure. You can use a jubilee clip or our simple and inexpensive ratchet clips to strengthen the fitting. Can I use with high pressure / mains water? No these fitting are intended for low pressure only. Can I use the fitting with my aquarium / marine tank? Yes these are ideal for aquarium projects, remember to strengthen the connection with a ratchet clip for peace of mind. Can I use the fitting with an air pump? Yes these fittings are great for low pressure air projects, eg. bubblers for ponds and hydroponics. They are not suitable for high pressure air compressors.
