Main Function
Like all chemical peels, a lactic acid peel is supposed to deliver smoother, softer, and younger-looking skin. Multiple treatments help diminish fine lines, acne, and hyperpigmentation (brown spots).
Lactic acid, a type of alpha hydroxy acid, is derived from sour milk and is used for the mildest, most gentle of chemical peels. A lactic acid peel works like a glycolic acid peel, but it is much more gentle on the skin.
Lactic acid functions as an exfoliant on the skin. Its acid helps dissolve the glue-like substance that binds the outermost surface skin cells together, so that old skin cells are sloughed off to reveal fresher skin cells underneath.
A lactic acid peel does not come with the skin irritation or recovery time of deeper chemical peels, and it is therefore a good choice for people with sensitive skin or who have rosacea. It is also free of risks or complications, making it a good choice for those new to chemical peels.
Because a lactic acid peel is so gentle, results are not as intense as with other chemical peels. A series of up to eight sessions may be required to achieve full results, with "maintenance" lactic peel treatments thereafter.
Glycolic acid is perhaps the best-known of a group of chemicals called fruit acids or alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA). It is derived from sugar cane, so it can be considered a natural product. Citric acid from oranges and other citrus fruits also fall under the same classification as glycolic acid.
Industrial uses for this product include rust removal and degreasing, so pure glycolic acid — generally sold in concentrations of 70% or more — is extremely dangerous to exposed skin. In fact, the government considers any product with a concentration of over 10% to be a hazardous material.
Most consumers know glycolic acid not from its industrial uses, but from its cosmetic ones. It is generally used as a natural skin exfoliant and moisturizer, although there is much debate over its safety and effectiveness. Some proponents suggest that products with a glycolic acid concentrations of less than 10% are practically useless. The problem is that many large-scale cosmetic producers will not increase the acid levels for fear of liability and class action lawsuits. Some smaller cosmetics companies with high-end clients do offer products with at least a 10% acid concentration.

Instruction
Step 1: Clean face and neck thoroughly.
Step 2: Prepare skin with an alcohol/water solution (50/50 mixture).
Step 3: Apply peel to face and neck area. Gently glide cotton ball unto skin, applying more pressure on areas that need added exfoliation.
Step 4: Allow acid to sit on skin for 2-3 minutes.
Step 5: Rinse thoroughly with warm water. If needed, use neutralizing solution to neutralize acid. This step is only necessary if you feel that the acid is too strong for your skin. Otherwise, rinsing thoroughly with warm water should suffice.
Step 6: Apply a good skin hydrating, healing moisturizer unto treated area. We recommend our HA serum for faster healing time and best results.
Step 7: Avoid SUNBURN
Step 8: Repeat peel once a week.
Level 1: GA 25% + LA25%: Light peel for clients with light skin tones and clients who have never used lactic peels in the past.
Level 2: GA 35% + LA40%: Light/medium peel for clients who have completed level 1 or have used lactic peels in the past 3 months.
Level 3:GA 50% + LA60%: Medium/deep peel for clients who have completed levels 1 and 2, have used peels in the last 3 months and are experienced lactic peel users.
Level 4:GA70% + LA85%: Deep peel for clients who have completed levels 1,2 and 3, have used peels in the last month and are experienced lactic peel users. Can be used on the chest, hands, feet, back and body.
Please note: 85% Lactic acid peel is a strong peel and should only be used by experienced glycolic users. Misuse can result in burns and hyper-pigmentation. Please follow all instructions in the pamphlet included with the peel.
FDA SUN ALERT:
Clients should be aware that by using lactic acid or other peeling products, that your skin will be more photo sensitive. It is recommended that a sunscreen of at least 15 SPF or higher, be worn while using this product and for at least one week after you discontinue use. Limiting sun exposure and using sunscreen may reduce skin caner, skin aging and other harmful effects of the sun.
