A powerful flashed slot-powered Graphics option for Apple's Mac Pro 2008-2012 towers! The convenience, efficiency, and ease of installation of the GT 120, with the enhanced power of the 8800GT!
Up to 3-4X more powerful than the GT 120!
The most affordable Mac Pro graphics card with Mojave and Catalina support!

Available in both Single Slot and Dual Slot versions!

The Single-Slot Nvidia GeForce GT 640 is a compact but powerful option for adding more displays to an EFI64 (2008-2012) Mac Pro! The GT 640 is a magnificent replacement for a GT 120, being both more powerful and more versatile.

Like the GT 120, it requires no power plugs at all, and is powered solely through the Motherboard, allowing it to be used alongside any other graphics card(s) inside of your Mac Pro, and up to 4 of these can be used at the same time!
-Features 384 CUDA Cores using the newer and more efficient Kepler architecture for approximately 3-4 times more processing power than the GT 120.
-2GB of GDDR3 Memory through a 128-Bit memory bus for 4 times the memory of the GT 120, resulting in better support for high resolution displays and memory intensive tasks.
-Supports DirectX 11 specification with compliance for DirectX 12 (whereas the GT 120 only supports DirectX 10), giving a chance for compatibility with Apple's upcoming Metal API.
-Three display outputs allowing for THREE simultaneous displays off of each GT 640, with 2 DVI outputs and 1 Mini HDMI output! (GT 120 only has 2 display outputs)
-Supported by newer drivers, ensuring better compatibility with future operating systems, software, and driver versions. The GT 120 already has significantly reduced support in Windows.

The GT 640 is a truly multi-purpose video card. It can fill all of the roles of the old GT 120, including running multiple displays for everyday tasks, using up to 4 for large numbers of displays, and running alongside more powerful Graphics Cards for rendering User Interface output while the other processes or for easily adding more displays than the other supports.
Its greatly increased power over the GT 120 makes it suitable for even more tasks, including using it for processing tasks such as photo editing and up to 1080p video editing using OpenCL or CUDA, light 3D work loads and many games at moderate resolutions and settings, and handling multiple high-resolution displays with minimal lag during transitions and movement.

It features the Grey Boot Screen during startup out of any port, for system selection and repair/restore access!

The GT 640 is roughly equivalent in performance to:
-Radeon HD 3870
-Nvidia 8800 GT
-GeForce GT 650M (For comparison, it features identical processing specifications and similar performance to the graphics cards in 2012 Macbook Pro models)

The GT 640 is an upgrade from:
-GeForce GT 120
-Radeon HD 2600
-GeForce 8800 GT, HD 3870, Quadro FX 5600 (Similar performance, with newer technology, better reliability, better support & operating support such as Mojave and Catalina, and lower heat and power usage with no power cable required)

Features 1 HDMI Mini output, 1 DVI-D output, and 1 DVI-I output, all 3 may be in use at the same time.
-The HDMI Mini output can adapt to Full-Size HDMI, and from Full-Size HDMI can also adapt to DVI. Supports up to 2560x1600 @ 60Hz.
-The DVI-D output can adapt to HDMI for compatibility, and supports up to 2560x1600 @ 60Hz.
-The DVI-I output can adapt to VGA or HDMI for compatibility, and supports up to 2560x1600 @ 60Hz. Please note: Mojave 10.14 and newer do not natively support VGA via passive adapter; an active adapter must be used if you wish to use a VGA display with Mojave or newer.

Other GT 640 options also available if you need Displayport for 4K 60Hz display or Apple LED Cinema Display, or this one is out of stock:

Requires a Mac Pro tower of version 3,1 - 5,1 (2008-2012). Not compatible with the Mac Pro 2006-2007 (1,1-2,1) models.
Requires Mac OS X Version 10.8.3 or Newer. No driver installation required, plug and play! Mojave and Catalina compatible!*

Please note: Mac OS High Sierra does not allow the use of more than 1 graphics card at a time in the Mac Pro. Sierra and Mojave do not have this issue.
This card is NOT compatible alongside an RX 580 or other AMD cards including and after the 400 series, including to provide a boot screen. The RX 460 is compatible alongside one.

To install Mac OS Mojave on a Mac Pro 5,1, you must do so by launching the application from Mac OS High Sierra. The Mojave installer will erroneously claim that an Nvidia graphics card is not supported if installed from a bootable USB drive, but will properly detect it and install from an existing High Sierra install.

Mojave does not natively support the Mac Pro 2008 with some workarounds required to install, and the Mac Pro 2009 must be firmware flashed to a 2010 version prior to installation. Catalina and Big Sur do not natively support any Mac Pro tower, and likewise patches are required to install. I am not able to assist with these processes, but I can at least guarantee that this graphics card will work in those operating systems during and after the respective processes.

If you are currently or will use any patches to install an unsupported OS: You must not install the "Legacy video cards patch" option in any of the patcher tools. If that patch is already installed, you may need to reinstall the unsupported OS and the patches, but excluding that specific patch. Having this patch installed is a common reason for a graphics card seeming like it is not functioning; this specific patch breaks support for natively Metal supported Nvidia graphics cards such as this one.

You will receive:
-The GT 640 Card (Like the one pictured)

To ensure longevity and reliability of each card, when necessary, thermal compound has been replaced and dust cleaned from the heatsinks for optimal cooling.
Cards may have scratches and scuffs, but these are purely cosmetic and will not effect the performance nor the reliability.
