1000 Grit is great for the final or last stages of the sharpening or edge refinement process with knives that are already sharp and have been started with coarser belts. This can be the last step in creating a final edge, or an additional leather or polishing belt may be used. It can be a final polishing belt for a smooth and very sharp edge. It’s a very to ultra fine grit.
