Camu Camu (Myrciaria dubia), is a small bushy riverside tree from the Amazon rainforest of Brazil, which grows to a height of 3–5 m (9.8–16.4 ft) and bears a red/purple cherry-like fruit. It is a close relative of the jaboticaba (Myrciaria cauliflora) and the guavaberry or rumberry (Myrciaria floribunda). The high vitamin C content, on the order of 2–3% of fresh weight, is the most important property of the fruit.

Vitamin C King!

Camu Camu currently holds one of the highest amounts of vitamin C of any fruit and has been used for centuries by the native to fight off cold and flu. The vitamin C levels found in Camu Camu are approximately 45 times more than a single orange and just 1 serve is the equivalent of eating about 45 oranges.

It also contains beta-carotene, protein, thiamin, serine, valine, niacin, leucine and minerals such as potassium, calcium, sodium, zinc, copper, and iron. Being loaded with such powerful amino acids and phytochemicals, camu camu is full of innumerable health benefits. This small sized power fruit possesses antioxidant, emollient, anti-inflammatory and astringent properties.
