In 1976 some things never change. Adolescence is troubling enough for most 11 year old girls awaiting womanhood. But for Elizabeth the sudden revelation that she is adopted turns her entire whole world upside down. Unfortunately her adoptive mother Marion, doesn’t have any of the answers desperately sought after by her daughter who hastily embarks on a cross country journey in the hope of finding her true origins. Pursuing the precocious Elizabeth, Marion must confront and overcome some issues of her own in a personal quest that just might see her destined to arrive at her own identity. Road movie, period piece and family pilgrimage, THE YEAR DOLLY PARTON WAS MY MOM, is a delightful look into the way we are shaped by others and driven from within.
