Ernest Chiriaka is best known today for his famous Esquire pin-ups. In 1952, he was commissioned to paint two pin-ups for the Esquire calendar. The following year he was asked to paint all twelve pin-ups. He continued working for magazines and pulp publishers (doing book covers) for many years afterward. His noir art stands as a pillar in the genre.
