What is so amazing about Tanzanite?
Tanzanite really is spectacular! This precious gemstone is only found in one location in the world: Tanzania, Africa, and it is 1000 times rarer than Diamonds.
Decembers birth stone and
one of the top 5 stones in the world.
Tanzanite is extremely popular due to its trichroic nature, which means that
three different colours can be seen when looking at the gem from different
angles, colours are: blue, pinkish violet and yellow.
Tanzanite was discovered in 1967, word of the unearthing reached the
celebrated New York Jewellers, Tiffany’s. At that time the great grandson of
Louis Tiffany was completely awestruck by the beauty of the gemstone. The story
goes that lightning struck grassland at the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro causing
a fire, which turned the brown zoisite crystals on the surface to blue where
the Maasai tribesmen found them. Recently being called the "Generation
gemstone" because it’s believed the current source of Tanzanite is to be
soon run out hence Tanzanite now being bought as an investment for the future.
